Getting To Krabi

Krabi is located in the southern part of Thailand. Situated east of Phuket, it is just over 500 miles, or 800 kilometers, from Bangkok. Getting to Krabi is no longer a difficult task. It can be reached by plane, train, bus, or car.

Fly to Krabi

Krabi has an international airport. There are several airlines which fly to Krabi, but the majority of the flights to Krabi come from Bangkok. The Bangkok - Krabi flight lasts about one hour and twenty minutes. It is not uncommon for passengers to fly to Phuket and then arrange to take a taxi to Krabi. Getting to Krabi is easy when you book a flight to the province.

Go to Krabi by Train

It is impossible to go to Krabi the whole way by train. The Thailand railway network does not extend west to Krabi and Phuket. However, train enthusiasts can board the train in Bangkok and disembark in Surat Thani. From Surat Thani, you can pick up a bus to go to Krabi. Some travel agents will sell combination train/bus tickets for budget minded travelers. Thailand trains are very safe. But do not go to Krabi by train, unless you have plenty of vacation time in Thailand. Getting to Krabi by train is not as fast as booking your flight to fly to Krabi.

Take a Bus to Krabi

The Bangkok - Krabi bus route takes about 12 hours. That's a long time on a bus if you have a family. If your children are small, 12 hours on a bus would seem like an eternity. I am speaking from experience with my family. Of course, every family is different and yours may have no problem sitting on a bus for that long of a time. Getting to Krabi on a bus gives you the chance to see more of Thailand when compared to flying on a plane. It is also the most economical way to travel, except for third class train seats. Read on to find out more about taking a bus to Krabi.

Take a Taxi to Krabi

There are numerous private companies which provide taxi service to Krabi. In fact, for travelers coming from Phuket, a taxi to Krabi is probably the most viable option. However, a taxi service from Bangkok feels almost like a bus ride. The only advantage with a taxi is that you can decide when and where to make stops along the way. A taxi to Krabi makes sense if it is a short trip from other southern points in Thailand. Otherwise, a taxi to Krabi does not seem to be the best choice for families on a Thailand vacation.
