Go To Krabi By Boat

Krabi sits right on the Andaman Sea. Many of the Krabi activities happen off the coast. Therefore the many boats and ferries to and from Krabi are an essentail part of the Krabi transportation system. If you go to Krabi by boat, be aware that the boats can get very crowded during peak times.

Travel by ferry boats is often slow. They do have a schedule for departure from the various ports listed below, but it is not uncommon for the boats to be delayed. If you have a limited amount of time during your travel itnerary, I recommend you hire a speed boat to go to Krabi by boat. Speedboats are more expensive but they will definitely save you time during your Krabi family holiday.

Krabi to Phi Phi Ferries

The travel time between Krabi town and Ko Phi Phi is approximately one and a half hours. During the high season, boats leave from Phi Phi and Krabi town in the morning and afternoon. The Krabi boat pier is about 4 km outside of town on Tharua road. Boats leave Krabi from the main pier in Tonsai Bay.

Krabi to Koh Lanta Ferries

Krabi ferries headed for Koh Lanta also leave from the Krabi Passenger Pier on Tharua road. Travel time to Koh Lanta Island is about one and a half hours. Trips from Koh Lanta to Krabi by boat leave from the main pier in Saladan town.

Ao Nang to Phi Phi Ferries

The trip from Ao Nang to Phi Phi takes about one and a half hours. Once leaving the pier on Hat Noppharat Beach, a stop is made in Railey West before continuing on to Ko Phi Phi. The Hat Noppharat pier is fives minutes from Ao Nang Beach and a free shuttle bus from Ao Nang to the pier is provided.

Ao Nang to Koh Lanta Ferries

The trip from Ao Nang to Koh Lanta is similar to the trip to Phi Phi. The journey takes about one and a half hours and a stop is made in Railey West. Ferries from Ao Nang, Hat Noppharat pier, depart in the morning. There are no schedules journeys from Ao Nang in the afternoon.

Ao Nang to Phuket Ferries

While the morning ferries which depart from Ao Nang head to Phi Phi or Lanta Islands, the afternoon ferry heads to Phuket. This trip takes three hours and arrives at the Phuket Pier at Ao Makham. There is also an afternoon ferry from Phuket to Ao Nang.

Phi Phi to Koh Lanta Ferries

The journey from Phi Phi to Koh Lanta is slightly shorter than the other trips at one hour and fifteen minutes. There are morning and afternoon departures in each direction. The journey from Phi Phi begins at the pier in Tonsai Bay while the Lanta ferry leaves from the Saladan pier.

Travel to Krabi by boat does not happen from Bangkok. But boat travel is very important for locals and tourists in Krabi.
