Krabi InformationIt is amazing that Krabi was kept a secret for so long. For many years, Phuket was the destination for most beach bound tourists in Thailand. However, Krabi is gaining in popularity due to its stunning natural beauty. Now that the secret is out, Krabi hosts around two million visitors every year. There is much Krabi information online these days. Krabi is the name of the province and the main town. The province includes over 130 islands of varying sizes, as well as area on the mainland. The town center is over 500 miles, or 800 kilometers from Bangkok. With such a diverse province, it is almost impossible to put all of the Krabi information onto one site. When you paln your Krabi family holiday, I recommend you spend time researching the Krabi information that will help make your family holiday a success. ClimateKrabi has a tropical climate which means there are basically two seasons. November through March is cooler and dry due to Northeast winds. These make the days breezy and sunny, while keeping the nights cool and comfortable. Cool weather in a tropical climate not cold weather, although you may want to have a light sweater or jacket during the late evening hours. April sees a shift of the winds coming from the Southwest, which brings heat and eventually more rainy weather. The days are still mostly sunny, as much of the rain comes in the form of late afternoon thunderstorms. The Southwest winds last until around October. The seas can be quite rough this time of year. Don't allow anyone in your family to swim in the ocean alone, even if they are strong swimmers. The undercurrent can be quite strong at times. Most tourists visit Krabi during the cooler time of year, from November to February. Be aware that hotel rates are more expensive during the high tourist season, especially during Christmas and New Year. Traveling with ChildrenThe tropical sun can be very intense and unforgiving. Make sure you have plenty of sunscreen, hats or some type of suncover for your children. Thailand is very modern. If you forget any special items for your family, you can probably find them for sale in the main tourist areas. If the item has to be imported, the cost may be rather high. Don't bring alot of extra diapers. Pampers and Huggies can be purchased for a reasonable price in most supermarkets. |
