Krabi Island HoppingKrabi province includes hundreds of islands out in the Andaman Sea. The most famous islands are Koh Lanta and Ko Phi Phi. Many of the islands are uninhabitated and not easily accessible due to the towering limestone formations which make up the island. But there are enough islands with sandy beaches which are perfect for enjoying the sun and surf. It is very easy to rent your own boat for the day and ask the boatman to take your family around for some Krabi island hopping. He will most likely take you to the popular islands which are part of the normal tour circuit. Don't worry, the beaches are big enough to hold all of the island hopping beach lovers. The islands on the tour circuit also have soem bathroom facilities, which can be very handy in your time of need. Most of the islands do not have any restaurants or food and drink available for purchase. Make sure to pack your own water and lunch or ask your hotel to prepare a bag lunch for you. Take extra drinking water, a day in the sun will make your family very thirsty.
If you are not thrilled about renting your own boat for your Krabi island hopping experience, there are plenty of tour operators who will add you to their cruise. The tour package will include lunch and drinks, therefore you do not have to bring your own. It may even include a snorkel mask and fins, but remember they have been used by hundreds of tourists before you. If you have a small family, it will be cheaper to join a tour than to rent your own boat. However, the boat will be full and the operator chooses the itinerary for the day. A Krabi island hopping tour, whether on your own or with a tour group, is good way to explore the islands and try your hand at snorkeling. Plan to do your island hopping tour during the first or second day of your Krabi family holiday. After a day on the water, you will probably want to plan a trip to scuba dive in Krabi as well. |
